Barcelona and Real Madrid Rule Social Media
Football is clearly America’s game, but the NFL can’t touch soccer when it comes to the global stage. Just look at the social media followings of the two sports. The NFL’s 30 most valuable teams have 60 million Facebook fans and Twitter followers combined. Spanish soccer powerhouse Barcelona has 61 million all by itself.
As part of our look at the world’s 50 most valuable sports teams, we also broke down the social media universe of those teams. The teams below are listed in order of franchise value on the right along with the combined number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers. The size of the bubbles represents their social following.
