King Harald V of Norway departed home on a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Langkawi

A Scandinavian Airlines plane believed to be carrying Norway's King Harald V took off from Langkawi International Airport (LTAL) today.

LANGKAWI: King Harald V of Norway departed home on a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Langkawi International Airport (LTAL) at 1.03 this afternoon.

Before that, a vehicle carrying King Harald V accompanied by the police and his entourage left the Sultanah Maliha Hospital (HSM) towards LTAL at 12.25 in the afternoon.

A Scandinavian Airlines plane departing from Oslo Airport landed at LTAL last Friday, complete with medical facilities.

King Harald V will receive further treatment at Rikshospitalet upon arrival in Norway, according to a statement issued by the Norwegian royal family on the website www.royalcourt.no.

According to the statement, His Majesty will be on vacation for two weeks and during that period the Crown Prince will carry out his duties as regent.

On Saturday, King Harald V successfully underwent a pacemaker implant procedure at HSM following his weak heart rate as confirmed by his personal physician, Bjorn Bendz.

Bendz reportedly said the pacemaker implant allowed him to travel home more safely.

Bernama on 28 February reported that King Harald V received treatment at HSM after falling ill while on holiday in Malaysia.
