KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC) was named Asia's Best Convention Center and Malaysia's Best Convention Center for 2023 by the World MICE Awards (WMA) at its fourth annual gala held in Berlin on March 6.

MITEC in a statement yesterday informed that it has made history as the first purpose-built venue in Malaysia for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and lifestyle events that won the prestigious award as Asia's Best Convention Center from WMA.

In addition, MITEC owned by the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), which was honored as an exclusive venue in Malaysia, also won the World Travel Awards for World's Leading Meetings and Conference Center and Asia's Leading Meetings and Conference Center for the year 2023, making the total number of awards received so far in the same year to four.

MITEC General Manager for Business Development Winnee Lim said she was honored to receive the two prestigious awards.

"These two awards prove our unwavering dedication towards a meaningful and sustainable approach in managing MITEC.

"This recognition fuels our determination to continue to improve our services to meet the various needs of organizers, delegates and visitors," he said in the same statement.

Qube Integrated Malaysia Managing Director Jessie Tan said that armed with increasing international recognition, MITEC is ready to attract more trade and business events to the country.

"This not only boosts the country's economy but also fosters cooperation and business growth thus creating a vibrant platform for exchange," he said.

In a similar statement, WMA Founder Graham E. Cooke praised the winners and said the award recognizes brands that have proven their excellence in their respective industries.

"Congratulations to MITEC!" he said.
