A 14-year-old teenager who was arrested after a random shooting incident at the Siam Paragon shopping center in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday was said to be too 'confused' to be questioned.
Thailand's Police Chief, Torsak Sukvimol, said the teenager claimed to have done so after receiving instructions from 'another person posing as himself'.
"He said there was another person himself who instructed who to shoot. He is a mental patient at Rajavithi Hospital and he is no longer taking the medication given to him," said Torsak.
However, it is still unanswered how the suspect was able to gain access to the firearm.
Torsak also told that both parents of the teenager had been contacted by the authorities.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand, Jojie Samuel, said that no citizen was involved in the incident.
The Prime Minister of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, has ordered the police to investigate and the situation calmed down when the incident area was cleared.
"From now on, the Thai government will implement the highest security measures for the safety of all tourists," he said in a post on the X platform.
Earlier, two people were killed, both women from China and Myanmar, and 5 others were injured.
The figure was later updated to a total of 3 deaths
