KUALA LUMPUR: Leading model Sharminidevi Parameispran, who was the center of attention at Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2023 in Gujarat, India, said the event was a platform to promote Malaysian fashion tourism.
Sharminidevi, better known as Sharwita, said the three-day event, which began on Sept 27, went beyond local fashion ties and was a space to forge ties with Asian countries.
"Through tourism-driven collaborations and initiatives, we can foster a dynamic cross-cultural exchange, benefiting designers, tourists and local communities, while promoting Malaysian fashion tourism on the world stage," he told Bernama via WhatsApp .
Sharwita who believes in the potential of fashion to drive tourism, said she has extended invitations to designers and models in Ahmedabad for future ventures in Malaysia.
He said famous Indian designer Seema Patel has expressed interest in organizing a fashion show in Malaysia, collaborating with local talent under "Le Fashion Secret" which she owns (Sharwita).
"This will position Malaysia as a major destination for fashion tourism enthusiasts around the world," according to the Kuala Lumpur native.
During her 15-year career in the fashion industry, Sharwita also collaborated with Sim's Designer Studio, a label founded by India's famous fashion designer and celebrity stylist, Seema Kalavadia.
