Sabah Politics: Hajiji no longer has a majority - KDM

KUALA LUMPUR: KDM has described State Assembly Member (ADUN) Sulaman as no longer having a sufficient majority as Chief Minister of Sabah.
Its president, Datuk Peter Anthony said, it refers to Article 6(3) read with Article 6(7) of the Sabah State Constitution, which states that the Chief Minister as the Leader of the Party that gets the majority of seats in the 16th State Election in 2020.
Accordingly, according to him, under Article 7(1) of the Sabah State Constitution, Hajiji must resign immediately.
"KDM leaves the decision to the wisdom and discretion of the Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin to decide on the appointment of the new Sabah Chief Minister based on the matters enshrined in the Sabah State Constitution," he said in a statement on Friday night.
Apart from Peter as Melalap assemblyman, KDM has two other assemblymen namely Datuk Wetrom Bahanda (Bandau) and Juil Nuatim (Limbahau).
Earlier, Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar in a press conference in Kota Kinabalu has decided to withdraw support for Hajiji .
In relation to that, Bung Moktar said, 17 Barisan Nasional assemblymen also rejected Hajiji's leadership as Chief Minister.
In the press conference, Bung Moktar also insisted that strict and disciplinary action will be taken against any BN assemblyman who disobeys the party's decision.
