UMNO suspended Noh Omar's membership for six years

KUALA LUMPUR: The UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) decided to suspend the membership of former Tanjong Karang Member of Parliament Tan Sri Noh Omar from the party for six years.
The matter was informed by Noh himself to the media after attending the MKT meeting held here tonight.
He was clearly disappointed with the decision announced by UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, however, said that he had requested that the MKT fire him from UMNO instead of just suspending him.
"I was very disappointed and surprised when the UMNO President announcement that I was suspended for six years, while the UMNO disciplinary board had already sent a letter for me to appear on January 30.
"I said (to the President) instead of suspending me, just fire me from UMNO and he said it's okay if that's what you want, sir," he told reporters.
He also informed that there are several other individuals in UMNO who were taken the same action and were even dismissed by the party.
However, he did not want to inform who was included in the list, instead asking the media to wait until the announcement was made by UMNO.
