Hasni was dropped as Johor UMNO Chief, Khaled Nordin replaces him
KUALA LUMPUR: Member of Parliament for Simpang Renggam, Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamad, has been removed from his position as Chairman of the Johor UMNO Liaison Body.
Sources in the party informed that his place will be taken over by UMNO Vice President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kota Tinggi.
The decision was made in the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting chaired by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tonight.
Hasni has led Johor UMNO since 2018 and on 28 February 2020, he was sworn in as the 18th Menteri Besar of Johor replacing Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.
Earlier, former UMNO Youth Leader who is also UMNO Deputy Leader of Rembau Division, Khairy Jamaluddin was dismissed from UMNO tonight.
Meanwhile, Sembrong Division UMNO Leader, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and UMNO Youth Vice Leader, Shahril Hamdan were suspended from membership for six years.
UMNO Supreme Working Council member, Tan Sri Noh Omar who was also suspended for six years, after the MKT agreed to his request tonight.
Also suspended were Tebrau Divisional UMNO Leader, Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Jempol Divisional UMNO Leader, Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Shariff.
