Muhammad Azmi is the new interim chairman of MCMC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced the appointment of Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain as the new Interim Chairman of the MCMC effective Jan 5.

MCMC in a statement yesterday informed that Muhammad Azmi took over the leadership from Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din who has been leading the position since 10 June 2022.

Mohamad Salim resigned on Dec 20.

Muhammad Azmi is an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer who has extensive experience in the public sector for 26 years in various ministries and government departments.

Currently, he is the Director General of the Department of the Director General of Federal Lands and Mines (JKPTG), Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change.

"MCMC is confident that Muhammad Azmi's extensive experience and prominence in public service will help MCMC's efforts to boost the development of the telecommunications and multimedia sector," according to the statement.

MCMC also expressed its appreciation and thanks to Mohamad Salim for his contribution and service throughout leading the commission and ensuring that the industry remains relevant and competitive.
