A RECENT incident on social media involved a man who died after collapsing and unconscious while having breakfast at a restaurant.

In a photo that also circulated on the WhatsApp messaging app, the man allegedly just got a dose injection of a COVID-19 vaccine booster.

The fake news continued to spread and his wife made a statement and asked the public to stop spreading false news that supposedly taking booster doses was the cause or cause of her husband's death. Rabunah Abdul Rashid, 49, wife of Hamsan Hashim, 54, gave a clear statement on the matter.

5 Years of Heart Disease

"My husband does have heart disease and hypertension. His death was not due to a dose of booster like the fake news claimed," Wednesdaynah said.

Hamsan, who was also a factory worker in Shah Alam, died while enjoying breakfast at a restaurant in Bukit Sentosa.

The viral news  on social media claimed Hamsan's death was caused by a heart attack and had just taken a dose of the booster.

Rabunah said she only found out about the allegations after being contacted by the case investigating officer about 4 p.m.

"Prior to the incident, the husband informed us that he wanted to have breakfast with his friend at the restaurant, which is about 200 metres from our house before going to work.

"About 7.15am, I received a call from someone informing me my husband had fainted at the restaurant before I rushed there.

"Upon arrival, I saw my husband was unconscious before being confirmed dead," she said when contacted, on Wednesday.

No Symptoms
She, who is also a housewife, says her husband has had heart disease and hypertension for the past five years and undergoes a monthly medical examination at Selayang Hospital.

"My husband had just taken a booster dose on January 12, but he did not complain or show any serious symptoms except for a drop in the hand.

"When I was informed by the police of the allegations, I was shocked that I had never stated in the report of my husband's death to do with a dose of boosters," she said.

She asked the public to stop spreading the false news because taking a dose of boosters was not the cause of her husband's death.

"I ask any party spreading this false news to stop doing so. My family and I, including three children between the ages of 13 and 20, have accepted the fate of  her husband," she said.

According to her, Hamsan's remains were safely buried at Bukit Beruntung Cemetery about 3pm Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor District Police Chief Superintendan Arsad Kamaruddin said he received information regarding the incident at 7am.

"An examination by the Assistant Medical Officer from Serendah Health Clinic confirmed that the man died.

"The man's wife also confirmed she has had heart disease and hypertension for the past five years and is still receiving treatment at Selayang Hospital," he said in a statement yesterday.

Arsad said the bodies of the victims were taken to the Forensic Medicine Department of Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for COVID-19 screening and autopsy tests.

"The results of the screening tests found that the man was negative COVID-19 and the doctor confirmed the cause of death due to chronic heart disease (coronary artery disease).

"The initial police investigation also found no criminal elements and the case was classified as sudden death (SDR)," he said.

He advised the public not to speculate on the man's death which was viral on social media.
