KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is investigating an incident of an individual kicking a homeless person in a viral video believed to have been shot in front of Lot 10 shopping mall, Bukit Bintang here.

The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Mahadi Che Ngah said action will be taken if the individual is an employee of City Hall.

"City Hall is investigating and if it involves City Hall staff, we will take appropriate action," he said Sunday. Last Saturday, a 30-second video posted on social media showed a homeless man being kicked in the abdomen by a man believed to be during a clean-up operation on January 14.

Two Alam Flora employees were at the place of the incident.

However, a source from Alam Flora informed that the individual was not his employee.

"Alam Flora workers wearing only red shirts and two others we are not sure.

"They (Alam Flora workers) are on site to help clean up the area only," he said.

Meanwhile, Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said he had begun an investigation and was hunting for individuals to commit the act.

He said the case was investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and at the same time warned the public not to engage in any illegal activities.
