KUALA LUMPUR: A police report was lodged against three local portals following false and defamatory statements that could tarnish the good name of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri.

The report was made by the Prime Minister's Political Secretary, Datuk Mohammad Anuar Mohd Yunus at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters on Monday.

Mohammad Anuar described the actions as unethical and disturbing to public order, saying that he detected three links to the news reports each related to 'Ismail Sabri is worried about being the shortest PM'. "These three portals willfully and unethically make false reports with malicious intent and defame the Prime Minister.

"Spreading the statement also caused annoyance among the people," he said when met by reporters after making a police report at the Dang Wangi FMI on Monday.

He said the statements were manipulated by the three portals from the Prime Minister's actual statement to reporters at a ceremony in Bera, Pahang on Saturday.

He said even the press conference at that time was not attended from the three portals.

"This police report was made so that the authorities investigate and take action on the portal which distorts and spreads the word to the detriment of the Prime Minister's credibility," he said.
