Mohd Nizom has held several important positions in the IRBM, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Management) and Director of the IRBM Investigation Department. 

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) has appointed Datuk Mohd Nizom Sairi as the new IRBM Chief Executive Officer effective October 19, 2021.

He, who was previously the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Taxation Operations) of the IRBM, held the post to replace Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah.


In a statement on Monday, the IRBM also expressed its highest appreciation to Sabin for his contribution during his service at the IRBM.

"The IRBM congratulates Datuk Mohd Nizom Sairi on this appointment.

"With Datuk Mohd Nizom Sairi's vast experience, this will definitely enable the IRBM to achieve its vision to become the Best Tax Administrator in line with the aspiration to build an inclusive Malaysian Family," the statement said.

The following is the background of the new IRBM Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Nizom Sairi:

Education: Holder of a master’s degree from Lawrence Technological University, USA.

Career: Started serving in the IRBM on 13 November 1985 and has extensive experience in the field of direct taxation including tax operations, tax compliance and collection, international taxation and tax training.

Mohd Nizom has held several important positions in the IRBM, including:

1) Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Management)

2) Director of the IRBM Investigation Department

3) Director of the Malaysian Taxation Academy

4) Director of the Tax Compliance Department

5) Perak IRBM State Director

For the record, Sabin officially started holding the highest position of the IRBM on 12 December 2016 where before that he was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Taxation Operations) of the IRB.
