Sabah police seize smuggled liquor worth Over RM2 mln ( Video )

KOTA KINABALU, July 2 -- Sabah police seized various brands of liquor estimated to be worth RM2,367,099 and believed to have been smuggled into the state, in three separate raids here, on June 23 and 29.

Sabah police commissioner, Datuk Zaini Jass said the raids resulted in the seizure of seven containers with 18,320 boxes of liquor while seven individuals were detained.

“In the first raid on a warehouse at KM27, Jalan Telipok Lama on June 23, police found three containers with 8,040 boxes of liquor.

“During the raid, police arrested two men who were the warehouse keeper and its supervisor,” he told reporters after an event to dispose of gambling machines, here, today.

Zaini said in the second raid on June 29, police raided a container placed at an open space in Jalan Kilang Kolombong and uncovered 2,600 boxes of liquor. No arrests were made during this raid.

In the third raid, at a container depot in Jalan Tuaran Bypass on the same day, police seized three containers with 7,680 boxes of liquor and detained five individuals including a woman.



Zaini said all liquor seized were believed to have been smuggled from abroad and all the cases to be related.
