SINGAPORE, July 31 -- Singapore, which is into its sixth-week since the re-opening of economic and social activities, has preliminarily recorded an additional 396 cases of COVID-19 infections today, bringing the total to 52,205 cases to date.
Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in its brief noon data released here said the vast majority of the cases were foreign workers staying in dormitories.
"Based on our investigations so far, there are three cases in the community, all of whom are work pass holders," said the ministry.
In addition, the ministry said there were three imported cases placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
In the full data released late yesterday, Singapore classified 696 of reported cases as imported, 2,176 as community cases and 48,937 as dorm residents.
As at noon yesterday, 46,308 or about 90 per cent of the total cases had fully recovered from the infection and discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There were 148 confirmed cases still warded.
Of these, most were stable or improving, and none were in the intensive care unit.
A total of 5,326 patients with mild symptoms or clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and are being cared for at community facilities.
To date, 27 people have died from complications due to COVID-19 in Singapore.
No new cluster was identified yesterday.
