Four Indonesians nabbed for selling fake immigration papers in Johor (2 Videos)

JOHOR BARU: The state Immigration Department has arrested four Indonesian nationals for selling fake immigration documents.

Its director Baharuddin Tahir said that a team of 13 Johor Immigration Department enforcement officers conducted a raid at a house in Taman Senai Jaya at around 12pm on Saturday (July 18).

“One of the suspects is a 38-year-old Indonesian man known as Bagas who we believe is the main mastermind behind the activity.

“Checks at the premises found 11 Indonesian passports, which is still valid and four expired Indonesian passports in the suspect’s possession that does not belong to him, ” he added.

Baharuddin said this in a press conference held at the Johor Immigration Department headquarters in the Home Ministry Complex at Setia Tropika here on Monday (July 20).

He added that the department also found fake Malaysia Immigration Department i-Cards as well as fake Covid-19 and SARS results of a private hospital.

Baharuddin said all of the fake documents were seized to help with investigations under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Passport Act 1966.

He also said among the items seized from the suspect included a laptop and a printer used to conduct the illegal activities.

“We also detained three more Indonesian nationals including two females where one of them is the suspect’s wife, ” he said, adding that all of them were being remanded for 14 days to assist with the investigations.
