KUALA LUMPUR: Speculation of a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is deliberately made by people who want Pakatan Harapan to be divided, says Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad.

"The issue of a vote of no confidence will only be initiated by such groups who want to drop Dr Mahathir as PM and force Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia out of Pakatan.

"These are immoral political games that aim to divide Pakatan's component parties," he said during a press conference held at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium at Bandar Tun Razak here on Thursday (Nov 21) after the launch of the Federal Territories Minister's Cup Carnival and Federal Territory Youth Icon Programme.

This followed news reports that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had said that a no-confidence vote against Dr Mahathir was never raised by any Pakatan leader.

When asked whether Parti Amanah Negara had considered a vote of no confidence against Dr Mahathir, Khalid said the issue was never discussed or even being brought up in the party.

"Why do we need a vote of no confidence (against Dr Mahathir)?

"I have said countless times that the decision on who will be the next Prime Minister will be decided by the Pakatan presidential council," he said.
