KJ: Letter to debate PM transition is fake, not from me (updated)

PETALING JAYA: The letter on the motion to debate the transition of the premiership is fake, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The Rembau MP said that the letterhead is not his, adding it was an attempt to drag him into the “backroom intrigue surrounding the succession”.
“There has been a viral letter stating that there has been a notice from me to the Dewan Rakyat secretary to move a motion to discuss the transition date of premiership.
“I deny having sent any notice or letter to the office of the Dewan Rakyat secretary to bring such a motion as stated in the viral letter,” Khairy posted on Facebook on Friday (Nov 22).
He said that those who used his name falsely are irresponsible, adding that what has been done is slander that could damage his reputation as a Barisan Nasional MP.
He also apologised to those who have been trying to contact him to verify the letter, saying that he was travelling and is currently in a different time zone.
He attached a copy of the letter, stating “it was sent to Parliament and accepted without checking with me”.
Khairy added that the question of succession should be settled by Pakatan Harapan and has nothing to do with him or his party.
He said that he is interested in debating and discussing policies that can assist ordinary Malaysians whom he claimed “are now worse off under Pakatan”.
“I leave the intrigue to those interested in aristocratic court politics,” he said.
The proposal to moot a private motion to debate the transition of the premiership from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was allegedly sent to Parliament secretary Datuk Roosme Hamzah.
The letter dated Nov 20 was stamped as signed and received on Nov 21 on the top left.
However, Khairy said that he had spoken to Roosme who said it was not her signature.
