Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh says Noh Omar should be asked to apologise for using unparliamentary language in the Dewan Rakyat.KUALA LUMPUR: Two Pakatan Harapan MPs told Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof to watch a video which shows Noh Omar uttering the obscene word “P*****k” in the Dewan Rakyat earlier today.
To this, Ariff said he did not hear the word. The sitting was chaired by his deputy, Rashid Hasnon, at the time the offensive word was uttered.
Ramkarpal Singh (PH-Bukit Gelugor) then asked Ariff to watch the video published by FMT.
“I believe there is also a video on that. Are you (Noh Omar) going to deny it?” he said in the Dewan Rakyat tonight.
But Ariff said he could not watch the video right away as it may use up the time allocated for Deputy Home Minister Azis Jamman, who is supposed to wrap up his ministry’s debate.
Earlier, Ramkarpal said he wanted an explanation on the matter as no action was taken against Noh.
“Did you make that statement? I read this in FMT.
“That is an offensive word. This is a serious matter. You can’t just come to Parliament and use such language.
“I was chased out before for using the word ‘gangster’. He used an offensive word. Will no action be taken on him?”
RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) then told Ariff that he was confirming that Noh had used that word.
But Ariff said he could not make any ruling at the moment.
He further told Ramkarpal and Rayer to write to him with facts so that he could then make a ruling.
“I will give an opportunity to the person accused to answer and then I will make a ruling,” Ariff said.
The speaker further said FMT is part of social media. “It has to be decided whether it is true or not. I will give an opportunity to (the other side) to defend himself. So write to me.”
Ramkarpal said he would do just that, adding: “There is nothing wrong if you ask him (Noh) if he made the statement. He is here in the house. What is the problem?”
Rayer told FMT it was unbecoming and uncouth for Noh to use such language in the house.
“It should never be tolerated in the august house, especially when you have women MPs present,” adding that Noh must be asked to retract, apologise and made to promise not to repeat such words.
Noh uttered the obscene word “P*****k” while debating on a Facebook posting criticising the Selangor Sultan at the Dewan Rakyat.
This took place during a heated argument between Noh and Rayer.
It started when Noh raised the issue of a Sept 29 Facebook posting by “Nga Kor Ming Superfans”, which urged Chinese Malaysians upset with the removal of bilingual road signs in Selangor to protest in front of state ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
