IPOH: PKR has claimed that Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal has joined the party but the latter denied it.

Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak claimed the party’s central leadership approved the former Umno man’s application on Friday (Oct 18).

“The party’s political bureau has received his application before this and it had to go through the evaluation process.

“With his experience, I am confident he can help the Pakatan Harapan government and benefit the state leadership as well,” Farhash said in a statement.

Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz quit Umno in June last year following the 14th General Election to become an independent.

Farhash said PKR now has 51 MPs.

“I hope the ties between members can now be closer while we wait for the party president (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) to become the eighth Prime Minister in the future,” he said.

However, in a statement issued later, Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz denied he has applied to be a member of PKR or any other parties.

“I remain as an independent and has not joined any party.

“Whoever issued this fake news need to take responsibility and retract it to clear my name,” he added.
