PETALING JAYA: Police say they are looking for a man claiming to be an enforcement officer who purportedly slapped a pub worker in Subang Jaya multiple times after being asked to leave.

According to Subang Jaya community newsletter SJ Echo, the incident which took place last week began after the worker, a foreigner, informed the man and another individual accompanying him that the pub was closing for the night.

At that point, it was about 1am.

CCTV footage of the incident at the pub in USJ Sentral 3 showed the man talking to the worker before slapping him several times, forcing the worker to stagger backwards.
The man then pulls the worker back towards him and continues to slap him, at one point reaching into his pocket to show the worker what appears to be a badge.

Subang Jaya deputy police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor, who confirmed the incident, and said one of the pub’s owners had lodged a report on the matter.

“The owner said the worker had informed the customer that the pub would be closing according to their operating hours.

“The owner immediately rushed over to the premises after receiving a call on the incident. When he approached the customer, the latter threatened to bring an enforcement team to shut down the pub,” he was quoted as saying.

Police are investigating the case under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to a person and criminal intimidation.

Amihizam said the worker has not shown up for work since the incident, which took place on Aug 16.
