Flash, mud floods in several areas in Klang Valley
KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods and mud floods wrecked havoc in several areas in the Klang Valley, while fallen tree trunks along two routes caused inconvenience to motorists following a heavy downpour this evening. The heavy rain which started about 4pm caused flash floods in some parts of the city. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department also received reports of mud floods in Jalan Putra Hulu Langat at about 5.30pm. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director, Mohd Rizal Buang said a low-lying area near the construction site of the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) was affected by mud floods. “The mud floods affected the main route leading to Bukit Ampang, but it receded by 6pm. “However, the Fire and Rescue unit will continue to monitor the area pending further instruction,” he said in a statement issued here today.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur City Hall enforcement department director, Azman Mahmood said that areas affected by the flash floods were the SMART tunnel, Jalan Pudu Ulu, Jalan Cheras, Jalan Pudu Perdana, Jalan Datuk Keramat, Jalan Wirawati and areas near the Hiliran Ampang People’s Housing Project (PPR).
