KUALA LUMPUR: A task force will be formed to investigate wrongdoings within the Education Ministry, said Dr Maszlee Malik today.
The Education Minister said the body is part of his campaign to unearth ‘skeleton’ left behind by the previous administration.
“I will from now on reveal a lot of skeleton left by the previous minister.”
“The task force (for one) will look into all the direct negotiations and non-compliant projects and tenders which were given out during the previous administration,” he said at the Parliament lobby here today.
Maszlee drew on the previous government’s milk programme to poor students where millions of ringgit worth of milk were not received by schools since early this year.
He however insisted that the campaign was not a witch-hunt but a reminder to the current ministers not to repeat the same mistake.
“People deserve to know. because it involves their money. Taxpayers money. They want to know where the money has gone to.” added Maszlee. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
