PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was again at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) headquarters, but this time as a witness.

The former prime minister, who is facing close to 40 charges in court, was there for four hours yesterday to help investigations into several other unspecified cases.

The Pekan MP clarified that it was to give a witness statement.

“Today, I was called up by the MACC to assist in their investigations as a witness, but not regarding the solar case,” Najib posted on his Twitter account shortly after leaving the MACC building.

Earlier yesterday, MACC sources confirmed that Najib had been summoned to assist in investigations into several cases, which include the solar project.

It is understood that Najib was to give a statement as a witness on a bribery case involving a Member of Parliament.

Najib arrived at the headquarters at 9.40am in his Proton Perdana, entering the building via a back entrance.

He had come directly from the Kuala Lumpur court complex after accompanying his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who attended a mention of her money laundering case.

Najib left at 1.50pm.

He faces charges of criminal breach of trust, corruption and money laundering in several cases, including on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.

On the solar panel project, the MACC had already questioned several individuals, including a former aide of Najib as well as former education minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

The project was awarded directly to one company without an open tender
