PETALING JAYA: A man accidentally drove his Mercedes sedan into the glass front of a McDonald’s outlet in Sunway Mentari here, yesterday.

No one was hurt in the 6am incident, but the fast food restaurant’s front door, part of its wall and a window panel were destroyed.

The front portion of the luxury car was also damaged.

The 40-year-old driver had stopped by to purchase his breakfast and accidentally drove forward instead. NSTP pic.

The accident is believed to have occurred when the 40-year-old driver, who had stopped by to purchase his breakfast, accidentally drove forward instead of reversing when leaving his parking spot.

“We conducted a breathalyser test on the driver, who is a manager, but the result was negative for alcohol.

“The management of the restaurant made a police report on the incident, and a traffic summons was issued to the driver under Rule 10 LN 166/59 for careless driving resulting in an accident,” Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Azman Shariat said in a statement. © New Straits Times
