KUALA LUMPUR: The services of six diplomats, including Blanche O’Leary, the wife of MyPPP president M Kayveas, were terminated effective June 30, the Dewan Rakyat heard today.

The others are Zahrain Mohamed Hashim (ambassador to Indonesia), Bernard Dompok (ambassador to the Vatican City), Ghulam Jelani Khanizam (high commissioner to Brunei), Adeline Leong (president of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre in Taiwan) and Siow Chen Pin (consul-general to Kunming).

O’Leary was the ambassador to Finland.

Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah added that Zulhasnan Rafique (ambassador to the US) had resigned on April 23 while Hasan Malek’s stint in Cambodia ended on March 31.

Saifuddin was replying to Pang Hock Liong (PH-Labis) who asked the minister to state the number of ambassadors who had resigned, their names and the countries they were sent to.

Zahrain was a PKR member for a short time before joining Umno while Dompok was the former president of the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), a former Barisan Nasional component party.

Leong is a former Sabah-based civil servant while Siow is an MCA politician.
