IGP: Cops wrapping up investigation into leak of spy agency head's letter to CIA

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have almost completed their investigation into the leak of a letter sent to the United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which falls under the Official Secrets Act, says Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
The Inspector-General of Police said the investigation papers would be sent to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office on Friday (Aug 3).
"We will await further instructions once we have referred the investigations papers," he told reporters after attending a seminar on challenges faced in modern policing with Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) at the Police Academy here on Thursday (Aug 2).
The leaked letter was sent to the CIA director by the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) head, Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid.
A police report was lodged on the matter, urging for an investigation into the leak.
The MEIO which is a covert intelligence agency set up in the 1960s and is known officially as the Research Division under the Prime Minister's Office, said Shaharudin.
