Syed Saddiq: Youth and Sports Ministry procurement processes will be reviewed
KUALA LUMPUR: Any procurements made by the Youth and Sports Ministry in recent years via direct negotiation or limited tender have been reviewed and will be reopened for a fresh tender, says Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
KUALA LUMPUR: Any procurements made by the Youth and Sports Ministry in recent years via direct negotiation or limited tender have been reviewed and will be reopened for a fresh tender, says Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
The Minister said he had been furnished with a list and was aware of projects that had been delayed or abandoned because there was no open tender process involved.
"I have already instructed the Ministry to stop all existing projects that have exceeded the cap set by the Finance Ministry, and there were quite a lot of projects stopped.
"I have ordered for the re-tendering of these projects, as well as for existing projects that have yet to be tendered out, to be done via open tender only," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby on Thursday.
I have no control over who it will be, and that officer will report directly to MACC.
"The MACC is also free to look at all existing portfolios under the ministry to weed out elements of corruption.
"After the major corruption cases last year, there was supposed to be a Corruption Mitigation Report (CMR) to identify the root cause and take action, but the previous MACC administration delayed it.
"I have ordered for the CMR to be done immediately," he said.
