SHAH ALAM: The national Under-23 teams friendly match with United Arab Emirates (UAE) ended with a free-for-all after both set of players clashed at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee's men were leading 2-0 with goals from Safawi Rasid in 27th minute and Akhyar Rashid in the 64th minute on Friday before UAE players resorted to cynical tackles.

Referee Suhaizi Shukri failed to take control of the match as tempers flared. And all hell broke loose after UAE'S Mohamed Khalfan Al Harasi kicked a Malaysian player at the end of the game.

Players from both teams were then throwing punches and kicks, and it got worse when the UAE's team officials were involved in the melee.
The situation was getting out of hand but Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) officials quickly controlled the situation.

Players were then herded off by team officials and into the tunnel to cap an embarrassing night for football.
