Whopper 100kg python caught in Kedah

BALING: A villager from Kampung Kaki Bukit came across a massive python here, which was later caught by Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel.
The reptile, measuring 6.1m and weighing about 100kg, is one the largest and longest ever caught in Malaysia.
The 27-year-old villager, Fikri Zulkifli, came across the python as he was walking home at around 3am on Friday (Aug 17).
He alerted fellow villagers and about 10 of them came to help catch the reptile but were unable to due to its immense size.
One of the villagers then alerted authorities and personnel from the Baling APM were dispatched to the village.
"We received a distress call at 3.14am and reached the scene within 10 minutes," said APM Leftenan Mohd Faizol Ab Aziz.
He said the snake possibly wandered into the village from the nearby jungle in search of food.
"APM personnel took nearly 30 minutes to catch the reptile as it was very aggressive," he said, adding that the girth of the python was about the size of an adult human thigh.
He said that they would be handing over the python to the Wildlife Department.
On April 12, 2016, a 7.5m python weighing about 250kg was caught by APM personnel at a road flyover construction site in Paya Terubong, Penang.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the longest living snake in captivity is Medusa, a 7.67m reticulated python weighing 158.8kg owned by Full Moon Productions Inc in Kansas City in the United States.
