ALOR STAR: The latest viral video making its rounds today is one that shows a Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) personnel allegedly extorting money from foreign workers at the Malaysia-Thai border.
The 1 minute 54 second video showed a man in Aksem uniform exacting RM10 each from several Thai workers travelling in a car at the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint.
It is understood that the video was recorded last week but it had only gone viral on social media today.
In the video, the man can be heard demanding RM10 each from the men or risk of being prosecuted.
It is learned that the Thai nationals are working as fishing boat crew here in Kedah.
The video has since received negative comments from Netizens, who lashed out on the corrupt practices of the agency with some urging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to look into the matter.
In an immediate reaction, Kedah Aksem commander Abdul Latif Abdul Rahman said the agency would investigate the matter thoroughly.
He vowed to take a stern action against the personnel concerned if investigation showed that the video is genuine.
