Remand extended for senior Immigration officer in RM27mil graft probe

 
ALOR SETAR: The remand order on a 37-year-old senior immigration officer (pic) in a corruption case involving some RM27.9mil has been extended for seven days.
Sessions Court senior registrar Rusmini Mat Rashid on Monday allowed the extension of the remand on the officer until May 21.
The officer was transferred to the Padang Besar Immigration Department in Perlis from Putrajaya early last year.
He was alleged to be in possession of five luxury cars, including a BMW X6, BMW 320i and a Toyota Vellfire, a BMW R1200 superbike, 13 luxury wristwatches and 13 branded handbags.
He was investigated for allegedly taking bribes in the approval of work permits of 18,626 skilled and professional foreign workers while he was in Putrajaya.
