Alor Gajah CID chief remanded seven days


 
PUTRAJAYA: The CID head of the Alor Gajah district police headquarters has been remanded for allegedly being involved in a protection racket in the state.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman allowed for the 51-year-old officer to be held for seven days.
The suspect arrived at the court complex here at around 9.20am on Thursday.
The assistant superintendent was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday.
The commission had earlier arrested several police personnel, including two OCPDs, in relation to their alleged act of providing protection to vice and gambling dens in Melaka.
Four individuals believed to be middlemen and an operator of an illegal gambling den were also nabbed.
