Authorities in Mississippi said a suspect is in custody after eight people, including a sheriff's deputy, were killed in a shooting. 

Police said the shootings occurred at three separate homes Saturday night in rural Lincoln County, south of Jackson. 

Officials also said charges have not yet been filed against suspect Cory Godbolt, who was arrested in Brookhaven, and that it would be "premature" to discuss a motive. In a video to a local newspapers, the suspect said he did not intend for police to capture him alive.
