Corporal remanded over protection of Melaka vice dens, RM800k recovered

PUTRAJAYA: A corporal has been remanded in connection with the case of police allegedly giving protection to illegal gambling dens and massage parlours in Melaka.
The 52-year-old, who is attached with the Melaka police contingent, was remanded for a week until May 24.
He is the 10th person arrested in connection with the case.
A total of RM800,000 in cash was found in the store of the policeman's house when MACC officers raided the premises on Wednesday.
He was arrested at the police headquarters quarters at about 2.15pm.
On Wednesday, nine people, including two district police chiefs and illegal gambling den operators, were remanded for six days.
Separately, a police inspector from the Subang Jaya district office was remanded for five days to allow the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate allegations of corruption against him.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman granted applications for both policemen to be held.
