Luxury cars worth RM3mil seized

PETALING JAYA: Two luxury cars belonging to a Datuk Seri were seized by police for two offences related to flouting Customs procedures.

The two cars, a gold Rolls-Royce and a yellow Lamborghini, were seized over two days at Tower B Pavilion along Jalan Raja Chulan, said Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Amar Singh.

The total cost of both cars was estimated at RM3.4mil.

On Monday, police moved in at the valet parking area there after a tip-off and seized the Rolls-Royce, which had the number plate DSS.

The next day, another team went back to the same area and seized the second car with the number plate G1M 5555.

A 39-year-old man who claimed to be the driver of the Rolls-Royce was also apprehended on Monday to facilitate investigations.

There was no record of the Rolls-Royce or its number plate at the Road Transport Department (JPJ), said Amar.

As for the Lamborghini, the car was registered with JPJ but was found to have issues with the Customs Department.

The owner of the car has business dealings in Kelantan.

In an unrelated case, Amar said police had solved the Bukit Aman car theft case which occurred on Oct 6. Police recovered one of the two stolen cars, a Volkswagen, on Monday and arrested five people.

A policeman working at the Camp Commandant Division at Bukit Aman was the main suspect in the case, and investigations found that he had sold the cars to a third party.

Amar said it was just a matter of time before they located the other car, a Proton Saga.
