SUNGAI PETANI: A 39-year-old divorced man was seriously injured after he was stabbed by his girlfriend following a heated argument at his house in Bandar Seri Astana, here, about 2am Monday.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the victim, a policeman working in Penang, sustained injuries to the back of the head, right shoulder, abdomen and arm.
It was revealed that the victim had befriended the suspect since February 2015 but their relationship ended three months later.
“The suspect contacted the victim again two weeks ago and expressed her intention to return to him.
“The suspect told the victim she couldn’t stand staying with her family as she was always quarrelling with them.
On Monday, a misunderstanding between the duo took place when the 19-year-old suspect quarrelled with the victim after seeing the picture of his ex-wife and several messages from her on his mobile phone.
"The suspect claimed he had cheated her and stabbed him with a sickle," added Md Zukir.
The victim, who has been divorced for seven years, is being treated at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, here.
The suspect, who is a widow with no children, has been remanded for a week from Monday until January 17.
ACP Md Zukir said they would investigate the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons or means.
