Cop killed after crashing patrol car on highway

PETALING JAYA: A police officer with the highway patrol was killed after his vehicle crashed into a pillar at the MRR2 heading towards the Karak Highway on Wednesday.
L/Kpl Suhaimi Che Morat, 32, passed away at the Selayang Hospital due to his injuries.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad said L/Kpl Suhami was alone in a Mitsubishi Lancer while making his rounds from the Gombak toll plaza to the Karak Highway at about 10pm when it was raining.
Nearing the highway exit to Karak, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car spun to the right side of the highway and smashed into the concrete pillar.
"He was pulled out alive but he died later at the hospital," ACP Ali said.
A police spokesman said the man, identified as Lance Corporal Suhaimi Che Morat, was on the way to pick his partner up before heading to the landslide site to assist with the traffic gridlock. "He was pulled out alive but he later succumbed to his injuries at the Selayang Hospital," said the spokesman when contacted. The Mitsubishi Lancer driven by the victim was a wreck after it spun out of control to the right side of the highway before smashing into the pillar. The victim is survived by his wife and three children.
