KUALA LUMPUR: Two teenage boys and their 21-year-old accomplice were nabbed by the police for committing a series of robberies around Wangsa Maju and Setapak.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Nor Azman Yusuf said that the suspects were responsible for at least 50 snatch theft and robbery incidents in the districts.
The first suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested on May 4 at 3.10am in Taman Sri Rampai.
“His two accomplices, aged 16 and 21, were apprehended the next day at around 4.30pm in Kampung Baru Air Panas.
“A sling bag containing a mobile phone and laptop were brought in as evidence,” said Supt Nor Azman on Wednesday.
The suspects were remanded to facilitate investigations and are expected to be brought to court on Thursday.
The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
In an unrelated case, police have arrested three men aged between 32 and 38 for robbing a string of 24-hour convenience stores around Jalan Tun Razak and Wangsa Maju.
The first suspect was apprehended on May 12 in Taman Sri Rampai at 3.30pm while his accomplices were detained later in an area nearby.
Supt Nor Azman said the suspects would rob the convenience stores during the wee hours of the morning.
“We retrieved a cleaver and a knife from them at the time of the arrests.
“We believe that these tools were used as weapons to scare their victims into submission,” he added.
Supt Nor Azman said that the men have been charged in court.
