MALAYSIA - A Counsellor, who went through a natural home childbirth, died after giving birth to a baby girl.
Ang Lay Chin, 40, suffered excessive blood loss after giving birth to her first child in her house in Sri Kembangan, Selangor, on Nov 13, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported.
Initially, Ang had a smooth delivery and she could even hold the baby in her arms and posed for photographs after giving birth.
She, however, felt tired later.
Her husband Toh Zhong Yun and a friend, who were by her side during the delivery, rushed her to a nearby hospital where she died.
Toh said they had gathered much information, attended seminars and consulted their doctor about home birthing before deciding on this method.
The friend who was by Ang's side during delivery had also gone through similar childbirths twice.
The baby girl is healthy and is now being taken care of by nurses in a private hospital as the family prepared for Ang's funeral.
Toh said his mother would help him care for his daughter later.
