HULU SELANGOR: Pakatan Harapan (PH)'s Pang Sock Tao won the by-election (PRK) of the Kuala Kubu Baharu State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
The result saw the coalition successfully defend the seat it won in the State Election (PRN) in August last year.
Sock Tao won with a majority of 3,869 votes and got 14,000 votes beating three other challengers.
Meanwhile, Sock Tao's main challenger from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Khairul Azhari Saut got 10,131 votes.
Two other candidates namely Hafizah Zainuddin (Malaysian People's Party) and Nyau Ke Xin (Independent) obtained 152 and 188 votes respectively. |
The official result of the Kuala Kubu Baharu State Assembly by-election was announced by the Electoral Officer, Yuhanas Auree Kamaruddin at the Official Vote Tallying Center at the Multipurpose Hall and Hulu Selangor District Sports Complex on Saturday night.
In the meantime, Yuhanas informed that the turnout for the by-election this time was 61.51 percent.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu State Assembly by-election was held following the death of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 due to cancer.
In the last PRN, Kee Hiong with a majority of 4,119 votes.
Kemenangan Pakatan Harapan (PH) pada Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) pada malam tadi disifatkan sebagai triple happiness atau kegembiraan tiga kali ganda buat Kerajaan Perpaduan.
Pengarah Komunikasi PH, Fahmi Fadzil berkata, kejayaan gabungan itu mempertahan kemenangan di kerusi DUN berkenaan adalah satu lagi kegembiraan yang diraikan malam ini di samping Sambutan Ulang Tahun PKR ke-25 dan Ulang Tahun UMNO ke-78.
"Malam ini yang agak baiknya ialah Sambutan Ulang Tahun Keadilan ke-25 bersekali dengan Sambutan Ulang Tahun UMNO ke-78, jadi kemenangan calon Kerajaan Perpaduan di KKB adalah triple happiness," katanya.
