IPOH: Police are investigating the actions of a group of individuals who were found to have failed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) Phase 2 of the PPN while on recreation at Bukit Bangkong, Tanah Hitam, Chemor here on Sunday.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said the act was detected after a video uploaded by an Instagram account owner was spread on social media.

"The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) takes the matter seriously because it appears that individuals are involved in group recreation activity and have failed to comply with the  Phase 2 SOP which is currently in force in the state.


"A police report was lodged and the case was investigated under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said in a statement here on Monday.

According to him, the public is advised to comply with the PPN SOP issued by the National Security Council (MKN) to avoid the risk of COVID-19 outbreak.

"The police will take stern action against any party found to have failed to comply with the SOP by issuing a compound to them in accordance with the act.

"All information on non-compliance with the VAT SOP in Ipoh can be channeled to the District Control Center, Ipoh District Police Headquarters at 05-2542222 or email at kpdipoh@rmp.gov.my. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential," he said.
