Police identify four RMAF personnel killed in shooting incident

KUCHING, Aug 13 -- The police have identified the four Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel who were killed in the shooting incident at the RMAF Camp in Kota Samarahan here early today.
Samarahan Police chief DSP Sudirman Kram said they were Corporal (Cpl) Ho Swee Boon from Lundu; Cpl Mohamad Ehsan Sehamat from Asajaya; Cpl Sharif Mohd Siddiq Al-Attas Wan Sabli from Kuching; and Aircraftman Luk Nesly anak Nabau from Sibu.
He said an initial investigation found that the suspect, Ho Swee Boon, had gone on a rampage and entered the guard station at the Handau Squadron 330 camp and took the firearms that were there.
There were several other RMAF personnel at the guard station at that time, he said.
“The suspect had even asked them whether they want to live or die. Sharif tried to calm him down but he fired a shot that hit Sharif in the stomach, prompting the others to run for safety,” he said in a statement here today.
Earlier, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail, when contacted, confirmed the incident, saying that further investigations were ongoing.
The RMAF in a statement said that a shooting incident involving four of its personnel occurred at 7.15 am today while they were on duty at the camp.
The RMAF also urged all quarters not to make any speculation until the police concluded their investigations and that they would also set up an investigation board to ascertain the cause of the incident.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail in a statement on Friday confirmed that four RMAF members were killed in a shooting incident.
He said the incident was understood to have occurred during the handover time at the Handau Squadron 330 TUDM Kota Samarahan Guard Station, Sarawak.
"One of the RMAF members is believed to have shot three of his friends before shooting himself," he said.
He said two friends were shot dead instantly at the scene, while another was seriously injured.
"The seriously injured victim managed to drive his own vehicle to receive treatment at the military clinic in the camp.
"The victim who was injured in the abdomen and critically died while receiving treatment at the Kota Samarahan Heart Center," he said.
According to him, the forensics of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters and the forensics of the Sarawak General Hospital were present at the scene.
"Further investigations are still underway ," he explained.

KUCHING: Empat anggota Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) dipercayai maut dalam kejadian tembakan di Kem SKN 330 TUDM CRC, Kota Samarahan, pagi tadi.
Kejadian dipercayai berlaku sekitar pukul 7.15 pagi Jumaat di Balai Pengawal Handau Skuandron 330 TUDM, Kota Samarahan.
Menurut sumber, siasatan awal mendapati kejadian melibatkan empat anggota TUDM yang bertugas di balai pengawal itu.
"Punca kejadian masih lagi dalam siasatan.
"Bagaimanapun mengikut laporan awal, tiga anggota maut di tempat kejadian manakala seorang lagi cedera parah dan dirawat di Hospital Jantung Kota Samarahan," katanya ketika dihubungi Astro AWANI, di sini pada Jumaat.

Sementara itu, Pesuruhjaya Polis Sarawak Datuk Aidi Ismail ketika dihubungi mengesahkan kejadian.
Katanya, pihaknya turut menerima laporan mengenai kejadian tembakan bagaimanapun maklumat lanjut mengenai mangsa belum dapat dipastikan.
“Ya, kita ada terima laporan tersebut dan sedang menyiasat punca kejadian.
"Mengenai maklumat mangsa masih lagi menunggu laporan penuh.
"Pihak polis akan mengeluarkan kenyataan berhubung kes ini dalam waktu terdekat,” katanya.
Dalam pada itu, TUDM dalam satu kenyataan mengesahkan insiden itu melibatkan empat warganya yang berlaku pada pukul 7.15 pagi.
Jelas kenyataan itu, kejadian berlaku ketika waktu anggota bertugas kira-kira pukul 7.15 pagi dan pihaknya akan menubuhkan satu lembaga penyiasatan bagi mengenal pasti punca kejadian.
"Pihak TUDM menyerahkan kes kejadian kepada PDRM untuk menjalankan siasatan.
"Pihak TUDM juga menggesa semua pihak agar tidak menyebarkan sebarang spekulasi sehingga proses siasatan oleh pihak polis selesai," katanya.
