KUALA LUMPUR: Restaurants and other businesses in the city will still have to shut by midnight, says Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
This is despite the decision by the National Security Council (MKN) allowing businesses to operate until 2am.
DBKL said that daily observation of 7,200 business premises revealed the need for better compliance of standard operating procedures during the recovery movement control order (MCO).
"It has been decided during the Kuala Lumpur Crisis Management Centre meeting yesterday (Sept 11), that businesses can only operate until midnight during the recovery MCO.
"This uniformity would also allow for better monitoring of premises by DBKL and other agencies," it said in a statement.
On Thursday (Sept 10), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the National Security Council had agreed to extend operating hours for all businesses, including restaurants and convenience stores, to 2am following requests from operators.
