KANGAR, Sept 9 -- Two men, one armed with a machete and on the pretext of buying an ice-cream, robbed a convenience store at a petrol station in Batu Dua, Jalan Kaki Bukit here of RM1,200 early this morning.
Kangar District Police chief Supt Wari Kiew said that based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording, the suspects were seen loitering outside the station at 6.01 am.
“One of them then entered the convenience store pretending to buy an ice-cream and went to make payment at the counter, while the other suspect stood guard outside,” he told reporters here today.
Wari said that after paying, the suspect threatened the cashier with the machete, took the RM1,200 in cash and they then fled the scene on a high-powered motorcycle.
Both suspects wore full-faced helmets, he said, adding that police were looking for the two suspects based on the CCTV recordings and two sets of fingerprints on the machete sheath left behind at the counter.
Wari, who said the case was being investigated under Section 397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery, also urged those with information on the incident to contact the Kangar District Police Headquarters at 04-9082340 or 04-9774077.
