PUTRAJAYA, Sept 3 -- Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is very committed in fighting corruption and instituting good governance in his administration, said National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) director-general Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.

This was conveyed to him when he met Muhyiddin in March this year to discuss the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023.

“He gave me a very straight answer. Abu, yes, I believe in it (NACP) and I want to continue fighting corruption," recalled Abu Kassim on the meeting with Muhyiddin then at the second Anti-Corruption Forum here today.

Launched last year, NACP's vision is to make Malaysia a corruption-free nation with three broad missions, namely to create a clean business environment, to improve government efficiency, transparency and accountability based on good governance, and to uphold the rule of law.

Abu Kassim said fighting corruption should not be the responsibility of the prime minister alone, but the Cabinet members, government sector, private sector and all segments of the society should also pull their weight together.

Abu Kassim said he had told the prime minister that those appointed to government-linked companies (GLCs) must be professionals with integrity and also suggested that government officers be appointed to the GLCs to ensure governance was observed.
