REMBAU, Sept 7 -- The father of a nine-year-old boy caught on camera driving a car here was slapped with a summons today.
Rembau district police chief DSP Anuat Bakri Abdul Salam said the police issued the summons under Section 111 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Based on information, police successfully traced the car and the child and investigations found that the boy had driven the car in Kampung Bongek without the knowledge and permission of his 47-year-old father,” he said in a statement here today.
An investigation paper was also opened under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect, he said.
“The police would like to thank the community for their concern over this matter and we hope they will continue to relay information to us,” he said.
