ANTAH Pharma Sdn Bhd today clarified that it never claimed its product Defend tag , could prevent the transmission of a new coronavirus (Covid-19), or as a means of preventing the outbreak.
In a statement tonight, Antah Pharma said some reports on social media claiming the product could do so were false and misleading.
He said Defend tags used innovative technology combined with the effectiveness of chlorine dioxide which has proven to be an antimicrobial agent, making it effective against many known viruses and bacteria.
"Although Defend tags are designed to provide extra protection against airborne microbes, they are not a substitute for good hygiene such as washing hands with soap and water, using mouth-watering and mouth-covering, when necessary.
“Since Covid-19 is a novel coronavirus (new coronavirus), scientists around the world are still conducting extensive research to understand the nature of the virus.
"Individuals are encouraged to adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, and practice good hygiene and social hygiene," he said.
