French national fined RM500 for disorderly conduct by showing her middle finger at a policeman in a police station

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 -- A French national who is a student at a local university was fined RM500 in default four weeks’ jail by the Magistrate's Court here today for disorderly conduct in a police station.

Magistrate Aizat Abdul Rahim meted out the punishment to Priscillia Miard, 31, after she pleaded guilty to behaving in disorderly manner by showing her middle finger at a policeman at a complaint counter of the Travers Police station here at 12.30 pm on April 16.

Miard was charged under Section 90 of the Police Act 1967 that carries a maximum fine of RM500 or imprisonment for up to six months, or both, upon conviction.


According to the facts of the case, the incident occurred when the woman came to the police station to obtain a cross state permit to return to her house in Langkawi.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Fatin Mohd Farid appeared for the prosecution while Miard was represented by lawyer Tan Kian Peng.
