KUALA LUMPUR: Marshaira Ismail, who shot to social media fame some years back under the nickname "King Coco", is trending today, for political reasons.
A poster bearing her picture and full name is going viral, in which the poster says she is contesting in the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) polls.
Marshaira, 22, allegedly is a candidate for the post of Srikandi (Women's wing) chief for the party's Bagan Serai division, if the poster is to be believed.
In a video posted on the Facebook page Bagan Serai Kampung HalamanKu, Marshaira was said to have won the post with 62 votes.
However, no statement has been issued so far by Marshaira on her win.
Among the Twitter accounts that shared the poster were @NaratifRakyat, who tagged Bersatu, "advising" them against taking those who "possessed no skills".
“Bring in those who can positively contribute to society. And, please to the Malays, you were not born with blue eyes. Don’t be so desperate to be caucasian.”
"King Coco" is also currently trending on Twitter in Malaysia.
Twitter user @ fatynfauzie said; “Wonder why King Coco trending and found out she's a representative for PPBM.”
Another user @FairuzRusli wrote; “King Coco lots of mix to contest as Srikandi chief for Bagan Serai really made my morning.”
Previously, Marshaira became an overnight social media sensation when a video of her speaking in a weird sounding accent claiming she has “lots of mix” went viral.
